Emeralds are the most famous and historic green gem in the world. The first emeralds were originally found in Egypt; it is said that Cleopatra loved to adorn her body in emeralds. Today, the highest quality emeralds are from Colombia, especially the ones coming from the Muzo or Chivor mine. Today, emeralds are commonly found in Zambia.
